Khareema Quainoo

Vice President Advocacy

About the Vice President Education

The Vice-President Advocacy serves as the student voice within the SGA and across the university community. This role advocates for student interests, supports students in navigating university processes, and works closely with university administration, faculty, staff, and external organizations to address issues that impact student success and wellbeing. The Vice-President Advocacy also leads initiatives that promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and student engagement while ensuring students have opportunities to be heard and represented.

Meet Khareema Quainoo

Hi, my name is Khareema Quainoo, and I am currently in my final year of the Bachelor of Social Work program at Laurentian University. I am a community advocate, entrepreneur, and first-generation university student. As an immigrant, mature student, working professional, and parent, I understand the diverse challenges students face while navigating education, including balancing academics, family responsibilities, work, and adapting to new environments. My background in social services and long-term care has shaped my commitment to advocating for individuals whose voices are often overlooked. As VP Advocacy, I am committed to strengthening the connection between students and the SGA by making advocacy more accessible, responsive, and student-centred. I am especially passionate about ensuring that students with disabilities, online learners, and other underrepresented groups feel seen, supported, and included within the Laurentian community. My goal is to build a campus culture where every student feels empowered to share their voice, access support, and succeed both academically and personally, and I encourage students to connect with me through conversations on campus, email, or town halls so we can work together to create meaningful change.
